I am Jacob, but most folks from the Appalachian Trail know me as “Valhalla” (Val for short). I am an adventure blogger and a freelance writer for all things hiking and outdoors.

The things I absolute love covering are:

• Thru-Hiking Culture

• Conservation

The lessons I’ve gleaned from my time outdoors are difficult to put into words, though I’m always trying. My experiences as a 2020 AT NOGO (thanks COVID), wherein I had trudged through frigid early-March storms in the company of some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met, as well as the rekindling of my love for backyard adventure in the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains means I have a lot to share.
